Recycling is an increasingly important issue, with political parties seeing it as a top priority, together with its prominence in the media. However, recycling is only marginally better than landfill, when the energy consumed in reprocessing materials is taken into account. It is argued that recycling encourages us to consume more, as we feel less guilt when we purchase new products that are recyclable / recycled. The best option for us as a society is to reduce what we consume, and reuse what we have.
Creative reuse is evident everyday in our society, where we deconstruct redundant products in many ways to create new uses for old objects, rather than dispose of them, in many cases the objects new application becomes more important than its original intended purpose. These photo inspirations of reuse have been taken in London, with the aim to encourage us to implement reuse
on an every day basis.
